Friday!! Time to eat tennis balls!

It's the end of the quarter!  My desk is so pretty and clean, ha ha.  I feel so light and carefree - could also be that it's Friday and we got paid too, hmm.  Got enough to keep me busy for the next few weeks without being stressed... I like that.

Last night I took Gwennie out for a late potty break.  She was scared of her shadow on the fence and was barking at it like crazy.  It was cute.

She loves to chase balls, so Geoff got her some miniature tennis balls to play with.  She actually got two of them in her mouth at once:

Then she got excited and started waving her arms, so that's why they're blurry.  She's so funny.

Tonight we've made dinner and are going to watch Seinfeld episodes.  I love weekends.

A face only a pet owner could love (and we do...)

I know, it's like a little baby - pictures pictures.  She's just so much fun.

Stuffs

Yesterday, I asked my boss if we were covered by the Federal Unemployment Tax Act.  He said, "Futa?" while giving me the 'do we really pay you to be our tax person' look.  Yeah.  I really did know the answer to that, I just got confused by a bunch of questions a client was asking me.  Serious.  We joked it off but boy!  I got the time off, to take a VACATION! he he

We are all making plans for next week when Alison comes home!!  Airport plans, barbeque plans, homecoming plans.  It will be awesome.

Last night Gwen was driving us nuts with all her energy.  She even peed on a blanket that was sitting out - no warning or sign that she needed to go, she just went.  Around 10:30 she finally started getting tired, and rested her head on my lap.  So Geoff said now we should drive her nuts, and we joked about jumping all over her and eating her hair and biting her arms and putting our butts in her face and farting and then peeing in her bed.  I laughed so hard.  But we just ended up putting her to bed.  She's still our little princess.

I visited Grandma last night after work.  Always good to see her.

The little stinker

My new headlight finally came, so last weekend we took my car down to mom and dad's so Erik could install it.  He did a great job!  A dealership would've charged us a couple thousand to replace several parts and repaint, but Erik helped me do it for under $100!  So nice!

We took Gwennie down too and let her meet Kola and run around the backyard.  Gwen was so hyper for hours and she just wanted to play... Kola is a little bit territorial and was just starting to warm up to Gwen by the time we left.  But, Gwen learned how to use the doggie door, and it only took a couple of minutes!  It was hard to get her little body through that big dog door but she managed.  She's a smart doggie.  She seems to be getting housetraining down too, although it's not perfect yet.  She's been standing by the front door and whining when she wants to go out, though she doesn't wait very long for us to respond.  Also, Geoff and I were playing nintendo the other day and Gwen was going nuts for attention... when she realized we weren't giving it to her she went over and peed on my coat, the little stinker.  (Good thing it's washable!)

Later that afternoon back at our house, our neighbors with the adult pug brought him over and visited.  He loved her!  But she was so feisty.  I can't wait until she has more shots so we can take her to the dog park and the daycare.  It will be so good for her!

That's all.  Just another Monday off the calendar.  Alison comes home a week from tomorrow, we're excited to see her!  I've got a humongous playlist for her of all the songs that came out in the last year and a half.

We've got a little trip in the works - it's just for a weekend but I'm still trying to take more time off work.  We'll see.

Time for time out?

Geoff bought a Wii yesterday.  I wanted Mario Kart - so geeky but I remember having so much fun with that game as a kid... so we played that, it was fun.  We also played tennis and bowling on the sports thing that comes with the console, and Geoff also got an airforce-type game.  It was getting late and I fell asleep on the couch with a blanket while Geoff played.  Gwennie climbed up under the blanket and fell asleep on my back with her head poking out of the blanket.  She's so cute!  It was such a nice night.  I just love being home hanging out.

So... I think I'm starting to burn out on work a little.  We worked on year-end stuff from January all the way through March, then quarterlies started again on April 1st... and still not finished but by the end of next week it will all be done.  So it's just been extra busy, and I think maybe working at night this week has pushed it a little too much.  Gosh I don't know how I did this with school for three years!  It's like suddenly I do not have the energy to do as much stuff; I feel like there's no way I could do that now, and it's only been a few months... I just want to go home at the end of the day and veg... like, every day.  Geoff and I never really took a trip to celebrate graduating like we were going to, either.  I've taken a day off to go to Oregon and a day to go to Vegas, but I would looooooooooove having some time - like a week - to just wind down... don't even care where we'd go, really.

Getting so big

Took Gwen to the vet on my lunch today cuz she's been dry-heaving a lot lately.  Turns out she's likely okay, but the reason I mention is because they weighed her, and she's 6.1 lbs!  Just a week and a half ago she was 4.4 lbs!  She's growing so fast!  It makes me sad that she's getting bigger.  But all well.

After work I worked again until 8.  This week is a busy one for both jobs!  Hope to get everything done by Friday so I can enjoy the weekend with my little flamly.  Yep she makes our house so much fun.

Grateful for today: having almost no interruptions at work so I can get some needed stuff done!

Relaxing

Quickly - I didn't do one last night so here it is - coming home and RELAXING after work!  It's niiiiiiiiiiice.  We also splurged and got chinese food from this place in Springville that's so good.  I drove down there to pick it up, since Geoff was finishing a final for his last class of the semester.  I wish it was after work again.  Except I have to work tonight, he he.  But after that.

Working

Today I worked and then went to my other job until 9:30.  I am POOPED!  It's a good pooped though.

My gratefuls for today are: to be employed with not one job, but two, especially in this particular time.  And to get to see my hubby and my baby girl when I come home. :)

Penelope Von Heinrick

Today I had a heavenly massage.  My fav. masseuse came over.  About halfway through, out of nowhere, I heard Dad's voice from outside the window (the blinds were closed but the window was open).  In his best goofy voice, "Ca-li, this is the Lo-ord speaking!"  I chuckled and said, "Dad?"  He chuckled and said, "Cal?"  I said, "I'm having a massage."  "Oh," he replied, and I could hear mom in the background saying, "Oops, I forgot."  Ha ha.  They came back a half hour later to see  Gwennie.  They loved her.

My little sis is in the student council, and tonight is prom night.  The parents of the council were asked to come help decorate UVU for the prom, and also to help announce names at promenade.  (Promenade is where each couple walks a runway in an auditorium, someone announces their names, and the parents take pictures.)  They prolly should've known better than to give dad the microphone... especially if he is safely out of sight.  Mom said he dressed up each announcement with things like, "and now for your viewing pleasure - please welcome so and so - ladies and gentlemen, I give you -" etc.  When it was Danielle and her date's turn to walk the walkway, Dad announced her as "Penelope Von Heinrick" ha ha.  ha ha ha ha!  I laughed so hard.  I wish I could've been there.

Now we're just waiting for the Jazz game to come on and I have a Better-Than-Sex-Cake in the works.  (Or as my Snow college roommate used to call it, Better-Than-Disneyland-Cake.)  Once when I was about 16, our young women's group was asked to provide the mid-day meal to the speakers at stake conference.  One of the speakers was from the Quorum of the Seventy.  We served them better than sex cake, and the dear man's wife thought it was soooo delicious, she wanted the recipe and asked what it was called.  Ha ha, we all stammered and probably turned red.  I'm not sure if we ever gave her an answer.  Later, one of the girls my age said she'd asked her mom if it was really better than sex, and her mom answered, "sometimes."  Ha.  Anyway.

Last night we watched Milo and Otis, because we haven't seen it since we were five and we knew there was a pug in it.  It's kind of a goofy little movie.  But oh well.

My gratefuls for today are:  Mom and Dad.  Shorts and flipflops weather.  Cake.  Massages.

this day

Gwennie likes to eat my hair.  No accidents today!

Today I'm grateful for our 5:00 meeting.

Should've been a cat

So, we've discovered Gwennie hates to get her feet wet.  It's been raining, and we have to drag her across the lawn to go potty.  Then she walks back to the house along the cement moulding along the "garden" to get back, rather than step on the grass.  She's also the first pet we've ever had that isn't fond of the outside.  Potty training may be harder than we think, ha ha.

Also, I've decided that a gratitude journal would be good to do.  Even if I don't have time to blog that day or whatever, I should be able to find two minutes to jump on and write something I'm grateful for.

So, today's is probably obvious, but today's is puppy kisses.

Whipped

We're in trouble. :)

Vet visit

We filed our taxes today - finally!  And we did it free on the irs and tax commission's websites.  I'm just happy they're done, hopefully they go through without problems!

We took Gwennie to the vet yesterday.  She got poked in the bum, had one shot of benadryl, then two more shots in her shoulders, and some kind of stuff squirted up her nose.  And had her nails clipped.  She was so good!  She cried a little during the nail clipping, but was giving kisses to everyone.  After the shots she came right over and buried her face in my shirt; she definitely knows who her mama is already!  We've found that she's super attached to us, probably people in general.  She hates it if we aren't paying specific attention to her.  Which we're happy to do but she may have to grow out of that a little.

We took her to see our neighbors, who have a two-year old pug.  It's face alone was about five times as big as hers!  It was so so cute, but Gwennie is so much cuter.  I wish so much that she could stay all petite and cute.  She's going to get huge.  But we'll still love her of course.

Wish the weekend could last forever.

Little Gwennie

Oh my gosh we love her so much!  We named her Gwen.  I was thinking Gwendolyn, and then Geoff said Gwenevere, and we like that one much more, because it's a fantasy type name and we like fantasy.  She's such a snuggler.  She loves to be right where we are - in our laps, if possible.  This evening she laid down next to me and took a nap.  I had to get up and move and when I sat back down I was on the other side of the couch.  She sat up, looked at me for a minute, then came over to where I was and snuggled back in.  Also while she was sleeping, I heard this faint clicking/sucking sound, and thought "is she sucking in her sleep?"  I stuck the very tip of my finger in her mouth and sure enough she was making little sucking sounds in her sleep!  We've also discovered when Geoff whistles, she stares and does the back and forth head tilt thing.  It's so cute!  She also likes tug of war.  When we go for walks, she doesn't bark at anything, but she'll stop right in her tracks and stare hard at whatever interests her.  It's so fun getting to know her and I'm amazed at how comfortable she is with us.  She falls asleep right in our arms.

Last night, we put her in her crate.  She whined and cried, and the whines turned into rather loud yaps.  I felt sorta sorry for the guy upstairs, but it only lasted about five minutes and then she gave up, and we could hear her cute little snores.  So hopefully she'll get more and more used to sleeping in her crate.

Tomorrow we have a vet appt to get her first shots.  That last people who had her weren't sure of her immunization history and didn't have papers, so the vet offices I called said it's better to start them over and it doesn't hurt them.  We're also going to have her fixed as soon as possible so we can take her to doggie day care a few times a week and let her socialize and get used to being around people/dogs besides us.  Plus give her some more exercise.

Anyway, here are some videos.  There's nothing special about them, other than you can see what she looks like.  She's so dang cute.

Here she is!

Whelp, so much for not being impulsive, ha ha.  We did do a lot of research though, once we decided we wanted her.  She came in this adorable little "Gold Digger" outfit, and she smells like groomers oils, like they just had her groomed today or something.  She's so much smaller than we thought she would be, but completely fearless!  When I first opened the door, she ran right inside like she owned the place!  She's so so rambunctious too, we've been waiting about two hours so far, for her to tire herself out.  One accident already, but she seems like she'll train easy.

Still trying to decide on a name!  Some of the names we've thought of so far are Gracie, Sasha, and Molly.  But I don't know if they fit her.  Any suggestions?  :)

A personal vendetta

The first 30 seconds of this video are hilarious.  It's not our dog but it was so funny I had to share.

A pug named Gary

First the fun news - we are thinking about getting a dog.  Yes, I know, we don't have the best track record for keeping our pets.  We're trying not to be impulsive this time though.  And though we are still busy, we're out of school now and are home a lot more.  And, we agreed we could do doggie day care a couple of times a week, to give the dog some extra socialization and exercize.  So, we're looking for smaller dogs since we are still in an apartment.  Maybe a pug - we would name it Gary.  Or we saw a cute mini-schnauzer too.  We would like to get one that's not a brand new puppy, and one that's been house trained.  So we'll keep looking.

I asked my boss if I could leave early on Mondays... the chain of events, or conversation, went something like this...

Oh you're taking a class?  But what for, I thought you were done with school?  Oh, graduate school?  Oh, and when would that be?  And you could go anywhere?

What exactly can I do, lie?  I'm an open book, he asked, I answered.  I may read back over this some day and cringe at myself.  But, my boss, who normally prefers to avoid knowing absolutely any details about our lives outside of work whatsoever, knows my plans now.  I just didn't want to say anything until there was something concrete, and never do I intend to leave them hanging.  I don't feel fantastic about it, but it is what it is.  Geoff said that I can't be missing out on anything if I planned to leave at some point either way.  So.  But my boss was supportive of taking the class and as long as I'm getting my work done, didn't see a problem with me leaving early.

Super Awesome Little Brother came to our house after his classes today - I met him on my lunch break - and he looked at my car.  The great news, is that the only parts we need are a headlight and mount!  He reshaped the rest of the car without tools, and wa-la, produced the blinker light, which had been shoved out of sight, but was still there and still worked.  I gave him some cash and he's going to get the parts and work on it this weekend, if he can find them.  He's such a good guy.  I have a great brother.  I'm so thankful for him and his willingness to help.  :)

There were some major breakthroughs in therapy tonight.  I'll write them later when I have the energy to, because they were really good.

Whatever

So, the other guy involved in the wreck gave one statement to my insurance company, which gave him 100% liability, then he changed his story to his own insurance company, which made them deny our claim and say I was 100% liable.  And my insurance company can't do anything because they didn't get his incriminating statement on record.  Their bad.  But our insurance company is denying their claim anyway.  So we each end up taking care of our own vehicles, unless one of us takes it to small claims court.  I don't want to go that route, because of my super-awesome little brother, I think it would be cheaper just to fix it, I don't want to spend money and time missing work to fight it.  I will die if that guy takes it to small claims, when we both know it was his err.  I just should've known, I should've known.  I was clearly the stupid one, not handling it right, with a police report.  It's been ten years since my last wreck.  But I will know better next time.  But I still hate the very thought of that putrid man's awful face.  Ew.  Thanks goodness for Erik's help.  I tell you what.  It would be a much much more expensive bill if I had to take it to a shop.

Anyway, I just got home from my other job, it's about 10:00, and I'm tired of thinking about stuff.  Goodnight.

Sweet Home Alabama

I'm pretty sure the IRS is a racket.  No wait.... oh, yep, yep.  It is.  Too bad nobody can audit them huh, how convenient!  ha ha

Okay just kidding.  But they might be.  Anyway.

After work I made the drive to U of U campus, to see about how long it takes in rush hour, since I'll hopefully be starting a class in May.  I got there in exactly one hour.  I'm going to need more time though, to park and walk, and in case of traffic problems, which I was very surprised there weren't any today.  It's a gamble.  I'll have to ask to leave work early on Mondays, which might be hard since I'm already leaving early on Wednesdays for therapy.  But I'll ask anyway.  At worst they can say no.

I added some of my favorite Sarah songs.  Witness is horrible quality, but it was the only copy there.

(I asked Geoff to quick name his favorite song and that is what I used for the title today.)

A guy in a bunny suit

We made last night an official "date night." We made dinner at home, then got out the air mattress and watched a movie - Planet 51.  This morning we slept in then got up and went to the grocery store, then made breakfast in our PJ's and watched conference.  Then we took a nap, then showered and Geoff did homework, then we went to bum around.  We got ice cream at McDonald's, browsed at FYE, and went to a pet store on Center street and looked at the ADORABLE little puppies!!  You almost forget about how much work they are when you see how dang cute they are.  I can't wait to get a puppy again, someday.  After the pet store we picked up some dinner at 5 Guys (first time there, it was okay), then we came home and watched more movies/TV.  We came home to an Easter basket full of goodies at our door.  Mom and Dad had come by to drop off some treats, it was so nice of them!  While we were out, Dad had called to say that they were driving by our house and they saw a rabbit.  He was hinting that the "easter bunny" had come by, but I didn't get it and thought he'd seen a guy in a bunny suit.  ha ha.  But it was very thoughful of them.

Tomorrow will be another day of laying around in PJ's, watching conference.  I love it.

Sarah M.

Tonight I have treated myself to a new Sarah album.  It does my heart good. :)

Still going

First day of quarterlies!  I've actually been working really hard to get all the little "extras" completed and put away so I could focus solely on taxes starting today.  So I actually felt energetic and positive when getting started today, which was good.  The last few weeks - though spent cleaning up "extras" - have been dragging like no other.  So it's a good change; I hope the momentum keeps up.

Also been off nasal spray for a full week as of last night - with one tiny slip-up Sunday.  Days are almost all the way better now, and nights aren't as bad as I thought.  Must've been I had a cold all the other times I tried to go off it, cuz it is much easier this time.

Also have lost a few pounds.  Been eating less I think due to some stress but mostly I am trying to make better choices overall.

Last night Geoff remarked that he misses Alison.  My sentiment: ME TOO.  One more month.  I know my dad misses her a lot a lot.  Ever since the earthquake he just wants her home.

For April Fools, mom sent dad a bouquet of pretty pink flowers with butterflies and a note that said, "You're such a fool for pretty flowers."  Ha ha, I think the point was to embarrass him, but all in good fun.

Anyway, that's it for now... mostly just another day.
